Integrative Medicine
Dramatically Improved Patient Outcomes
According to many experts, surgery and prescription medicine are over-used and over-prescribed in the U.S. Rarely are hospitals aware of integrative procedures that are of benefit to the patient without the invasiveness of surgery or western drugs. At Wind Gate Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine we know that surgery and medication are indispensable tools in resolving certain acute and chronic conditions. But we also know that they shouldn’t necessarily be the first or only ways of addressing disease.
At Wind Gate Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine, we’re committed to offering you an individualized treatment plan that includes the particular treatments that will most effectively address your unique medical problems, given your medical history and life circumstances.
For many patients, there are non-surgical, non-pharmaceutical options that can help resolve chronic pain with far less risk and without the harmful side effects. For example, Acupuncture, Neurofeedback, Egoscue, dietary modifications, addressing sleep disturbances, physical exercise, herbal and homeopathic remedies, vitamins, and the adoption of stress management skills like meditation often can alleviate many conditions associated with disease.
In fact, according to recent medical research, patients who had non-surgical treatment for herniated discs did as well as those who had surgery, one year after treatment. Furthermore, those who opted for alternative treatments resolved their low back and leg pain without exposing themselves to the medical risks associated with surgery. Medical research also has demonstrated that in comparison to patients who received only conventional primary care, those who received acupuncture in conjunction with conventional primary care were significantly more likely to report being pain-free for one year and they were less likely to report using medication for pain relief.
Research also shows that the amount of time a physician spends with his or her patient strongly and inversely correlates with the patient’s use of prescription drugs. In essence, the more hurried the appointment, the more likely the doctor will prescribe pain medicine. It simply takes more time than the conventional 10-minute physician appointment to formulate a comprehensive, individualized treatment plan and to review with the patient the steps that he or she should take to address their own disease processes — steps that when followed, will lead to significant pain reduction.
We are pioneers in the field of integrative medicine, staying abreast of the latest clinical medical research and utilizing a spectrum of conventional and alternative approaches that have proven to be effective in treating disease.
Our promise is to return you to your optimal level of health in the shortest amount of time as possible.
